Red Cortez To Support Morrissey On East Coast Dates
LOS ANGELES’ RED CORTEZ TO SUPPORT MORRISSEY ON EAST COAST FEBRUARY 28-MARCH 17
RED CORTEZ TO RELEASE HANDS TO THE WALL EP AND PLAY SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST (SXSW)
February 9, 2009: Unsigned Los Angeles rock band RED CORTEZ has been selected by MORRISSEY to be the only support act on the first twelve dates of his upcoming US “Tour of Refusal” from February 28 in Boca Raton, FL until March 17 in Pittsburgh, PA. Also in March Red Cortez will perform at the 2009 South By Southwest Festival in Austin, TX and release their new EP Hands To The Wall.
The invitation to tour with Morrissey comes on the heels of a remarkable twelve-month period during which Red Cortez has established itself as one of the most exciting up and coming bands in Southern California. Powerful and literate, the band has a fresh sound born out of the most classic of rock influences.
Red Cortez is Harley Prechtel-Cortez on guitar/piano and vocals, Diego Guerrero on drums, Ryan Kirkpatrick on bass, and Calvin J. Love on guitar/keys.
As Red Cortez and under their previous moniker The Weather Underground, the band has played dates with Little Joy, Matt Costa, The Walkmen, Black Mountain, The Delta Spirit, French Kicks, Razorlight, and Constantines, in addition to appearances at Bonnaroo, Noisepop, SXSW and Daytrotter.
Reviewing Red Cortez’s show earlier this week supporting Razorlight at the sold out Troubadour in Los Angeles, WebInFront.net wrote:

Now Red Cortez looks forward to touring throughout the East Coast with Morrissey, another appearance at SXSW, and the release of their new EP Hands To The Wall. Featuring five songs including “Fell On The Floor” and “All The Difference,” this EP is a worthy introduction to Red Cortez.
