Guns For San Sebastian New Ep and Promo Track

Cannonball, the five-song follow-up EP (coming 2/25/10) from the Bay Area’s Guns For San Sebastian, reveals a maturing cohesiveness and presents a clear picture of a band finding their stride. With its haunting hypnotic hook, “Devil's Dust” starts the listener on a trip into the dusty shadows outside town. The next track “Straw” explodes into a shiny, exuberant melodicism with a driving bottom end groove. As a lingering guitar fades away, a pulsing beat emerges introducing the energetic dance party funk rock of “Pretty Picture”. Charlie Marvin penned the lyrics to “Under the Radar” while watching the sun fade behind the East Bay hills. Indeed a darkness begins to gather as the track simmers with brooding, pulsating tension, building to a swaggering bridge, and heads to a climactic lift-off into all-out rock warfare. “Find Some Shelter” closes things out, lingering and swaying between slowly building verses and soaring choruses. The listener is cast into the realm of sorrow during the middle organ passage, only to be rescued by the seductive grace of the guitar solo leading us back home.
