- Rad Cloud is a two piece San Francisco boy-girl band fronted by Bob Thayer. Sarah Ashton plays drums, Bob
plays guitar and they both sing. Rad Cloud is punky, riffy, and super Beat. They are early B52's meets the Velvet
Underground and they have been playing shows in the bay area and West Coast since January 2009.
Rad Cloud just finished their debut album (self-titled) produced by Charles Gonzalez and featuring Jameson
Swanagon on guitar (Grand Lake, 500 records). During the month of March, Rad Cloud recorded at Radical House
in San Francisco's Bayview district. The record was written in the studio with spontaneous lyrics and post-punk
sensibilities. Charles Gonzalez' production is analog, minimal, and live. Jameson Swanagon's guitar work
is improvisational, rock'n'roll, and at times, dissident. The record itself has a late '70's garage quality with a touch
of warmth that is almost jazz.
Rad Cloud is influenced by Jonathan Richman, The Ramones, Television, noir, lounge, Beatnik poetry,
surf and rock'n'roll. Rad Cloud is currently working on a new record and they are playing shows in the San Francisco
Bay Area
